For two days (May 6 and 7, 2026), six study programs at Hasanuddin University received a team of experts for an on-site accreditation visit from ASIIN, a German-based accreditation agency. This agency focuses on accreditation of study programs in engineering, informatics, natural sciences, mathematics, biology, and agriculture. The study programs participating in ASIIN accreditation are divided into two clusters (A and B) and consist of six study programs. The Bachelor Program of Animal Husbandry (BPAH) is one of the study programs selected to participate in the program
The ASIIN expert team that visited the Animal Husbandry Study Program consisted of Dr. Thomas Lichtenberg (ASIIN Office), Dr. Knut Franke (University of Hannover), Prof. Markus Frank (Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Reinhold Hanel (Director of Thunen Institute, Institute of Fisheries Ecology), Dr. Bayu Priambodo (Lombok Marine Aquaculture Development Center), and Ms. Rosa Arum Kinasih (Student of the University of Lampung).
During the visit, interviews were conducted with the Animal Science Faculty leaders, the ASIIN Task Force team, students, lecturers, alumni, alumni users from industry, and other institutions. In a follow-up session, the expert team also visited supporting facilities at the Animal Science Centre, such as the closed house broiler unit, the Alope-Unhas chicken breeding unit, the meatball processing unit, the housing facilities for beef cattle, dairy cattle, and horses, the leather processing unit, and several laboratories.
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Syahdar Baba, who accompanied the expert team during the visit, said that the participation of the Animal Husbandry Study Program in ASIIN Accreditation is a serious step by the Faculty of Animal Science in contributing to advancing science and technology, not only in the national context, but also having a global impact.
Representing the ASIIN expert team, Dr. Thomas Lichtenberg expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm and readiness of the Animal Husbandry Study Program in participating in the accreditation program. The expert team was also impressed with the supporting facilities managed by the Faculty of Animal Science, Hasanuddin University, particularly the Closed House Unit, Local Chicken Breeding, Meatball Processing, Horse Stables, Leather Processing, and other facilities.
The visitation concluded with a closing ceremony at the Unhas Hotel. On that occasion, Unhas Rector, Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa, expressed his appreciation to the entire team that had assisted in the preparation and implementation of the visitation. He further emphasized that Unhas is not only focused on institutional achievements but also has a responsibility to contribute to the nation.
