Faculty of Animal Science Unhas Participated in the Kick-Off Meeting of the ELEGTEC Erasmus+ Program in Türkiye

The Faculty of Animal Science, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) together with the CBHE Erasmus+ consortium held a kick-off meeting for the ELEGTEC Erasmus+ 2024-2026 program in Izmir, Turkey on March 7-8, 2024.

The ELEGTEC program aims to increase the capacity of the small leather tanning industry in Indonesia through training programs and increasing the mobility of Indonesian students. This program is a collaboration between 10 institutions, namely EGE University (Turkey), UNIPI (Italy), NTUA (Greece), CGS (Greece), Crithidev (Greece), UGM (Indonesia), Unhas (Indonesia), Unram (Indonesia), Indonesian Tannery Association (APKI), and the Indonesian Ministry of Industry.

This kick-off meeting activity was attended by 20 participants. At this meeting, the participants discussed 6 work packages (WP) that would be implemented over the next 3 years. Unhas acts as a leader in WP-5 which focuses on developing training modules and curricula.

Prof. Mehmet Mete Mutlu from Ege University, as the coordinator of the ELEGTEC program, said that this program is expected to increase the capacity of small leather tanning industries in Indonesia to implement environmentally friendly technology. The ELEGTEC program is expected to provide benefits to entrepreneurs and staff and improve product quality and competitiveness of the leather tanning industry in Indonesia. Moreover, this program also could increase international cooperation in the fields of education and research.
