Urgency of the Poultry Production Laboratory

The Poultry Production Laboratory is a supporting laboratory at the Faculty of Animal Science in the field of poultry science. This laboratory is a means for students and lecturers to support the implementation of lectures, laboratory activities, work experience, and research which is expected to increase the capacity both of lecturers and students in supporting the development of the smallholder-based poultry sector in line with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Animal Science and also in line with the needs of industry.

To improve student skills and align scientific developments with industrial needs, this laboratory collaborates with the private sector as a provider of production facilities needed to support laboratory activities in a partnership concept. Moreover, research related to the development of special local chickens is also focused in this laboratory, including a selection and breeding program.

This laboratory also provides public services in the form of testing egg quality, hatching eggs, providing broiler carcasses, and providing both consumption and hatching eggs that bring benefit not only to students or academic staff but also to the surrounding community.
