Hasanuddin University Animal Nutrition and Food Student Association (Humanika Unhas) through the Department of Strategy and Advocacy Studies (KASTRAD), held a National Webinar entitled KIAMAT (Joint Issue Study with the Kastrad Department) by raising the issue of Meneropong Stategy Management and Mitigation of the Influence of El Nino on the World of Animal Husbandry. Open to the public, this activity took place via Zoom Meeting and was also broadcast live via the Faculty of Animal Science Youtube channel (Monday 11/11/2023).
The activity began with reading Basmalah by the moderator then continued by reporting the National Doomsday Webinar Team Work coordinator and remarks by the chairman of Humanika Unhas.
This activity was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. Syahdar Baba, S. Pt., M.Si. In his remarks, Syahdar said that we are very grateful because the theme of the webinar raised is about management strategies and mitigation of the influence of El Nino on the world of Animal Husbandry which we all feel. “Animal Husbandry in the future needs a special reorientation, especially related to how to mitigate the risks that will be born due to global warming and the most important thing we must do is mitigation and adaptability so that we do not become extinct,” added Syahdar.
The activity was then continued with the presentation of two speakers, first by Muhammad Ramli S.Pt, as a practitioner who gave an explanation of the impact of El NiƱo on the livestock business and readiness to face it, and second by Dr-Eng. Dr. Achmad Yasir Baeda, ST., MT. who described the El Nino phenomenon that occurred in Indonesia and its impact in general as well as how preventive and curative efforts in dealing with it. Dr. Yasir argued “This year’s El Nino phenomenon is very similar to El Nino in 2015. On June 8, 2023 the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officially announced that 2023 to 2024 there will be El Nino,” he explained.
Also present at this activity, Muhammad Rafli Ramadan, as the coordinator of Kastrad Humanika Unhas. he discussed El Nino in the perspective of students. “According to him, the frenetic presidential and election year should not neglect us on food availability when El Nino comes. Do not let our people’s plates be filled by foreign countries, “said Rafli. The activity ended with a question and answer session, handing over certificates to speakers and documentation.
